Inappropriate tasks include giving (“volunteer” or “guest”), spirits, exchange and the perpetrator of theft (2). Gift writers are those who do not contribute to the works. Gift, the authors are usually superiors, chairs or leadership researchers who can be recognized for their non-scientific contributions and moral support. Most of them meet the contribution criteria set by the ICMJE, but some of them are genuine guests without contributions. The authors of Ghost are those who have substantial contributions with obvious conflicts of interest, who are generally close to the pharmaceutical author, who deceive readers by omitting their names from the author`s bylines. The exchange of the author is an act of exchange of “gifts” through mutual agreements. And the paternity of the thefts is an act of embezzlement of the works of others. Of all these unethical tasks, the author of gifts is perhaps the most common in Korea. I analyzed the number of authors listed in the Korean Journal of Medical Sciences (JKMS), Yonsei Medical Journal (YMJ) and JAMA in 1990-2015. The results are presented in Table 1. The number of authors in the three general medical journals increased from 3 to 4 in 1990 to 6-7 in 2015. This trend can be explained by an increasing number of researchers, collaborators and research centres around the world. The increasing number of authors was greater in the original articles than in the case reports of JKMS and YMJ.
The number of case reports at JAMA did not change between 1990 and 2015. Analysis of the number of authors per original article for the various institutes in 2000-2015 the figures in JKMA and YMJ were 6-7 and only 2.2 in JAMA in 2015 (Table 1). There are suspicions that this trend of multi-authorization in Korean magazines is due to the author of the gifts. All manuscripts submitted should be original and not considered by other scientific journals for publication. Any part of the accepted manuscript should not be duplicated in another scientific journal without the permission of the editor, although the numbers and tables can be used freely if the original source is verified in accordance with the Creative Commons license. It is mandatory for all authors to resolve all copyright issues if they cite a figure or table from another journal that does not refer to open access. Any request for such changes in paternity (addition of authors, deletion of authors or updating the order of authors) after the first deposit of manuscripts and before publication must be explained in writing to the publisher in a letter or e-mail from all authors. This letter must be signed by all the authors of the document. Each author must complete a copyright assignment.
